Bairoch' s approach is essentially that of comparing the current performance of the less developed countries with that of the industrial countries in both the<br/>nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He finds that for one variable after another the less developed countries have values which are too high at too early a point in their development experience, i.e., relative to per capita income. |
