520			_aThis report is based mainly on information derived from a questionnaire circulated to the Governments of O.E.E.C. member and associated countries, and to the Japanese Government. The study covers a period 1956-59, for which with certain major exceptions (e.g government transactions, contributions to international agencies), statistical data were hitherto frequently inadequate or in some cases virtually non-existent. A major deficiency was the lack of comparable information on private capital movements to countries in course of economic development.
