This book presents an exposition and analysis of the institutional and structural forces obstructing development in Africa. In the book, the authors, Reginald Green and Ann Seidman lays the blame for the balkanisation of Africa must clearly on the colonialist scramble for Africa, even though it is unlikely that Africa would be united.
In addition, they discuss the case for an African economic union as well as the institutional structures to achieve such a union. The book covers four broad sections: 1, The Economic Problems of Balkanization, 2, Neo-colonialism: small size and economic dependent 3, Steps Towards Continental Economic Unity, and 4, Towards Economic Unity: a summary.
