Summary: How much defense spending is enough? is a debate between two congressmen on how to determine the size of the U.S. defense budget. In this debate, the first congressman (Jack Kemp) contends that U.S. expenditures should be determined in light of the military capability of the Soviet. He argues that the steady growth of the Soviet military constitutes a threat to the United States and requires that American forces be expanded in order tp prevent deficiencies in the future. While the second (Les Aspin) contends that U.S. defense spending should be determined by the capabilities required for vital national security interests.
