This volume on Nigeria is an interdisciplinary study concerned with the analysis of the effect of modern technological and economic development on ethnic, racial, religious, and tribal conflict which the editors lump under the term of communal conflict. The book consists of twenty-five papers by ten political scientists, five anthropologists, and an assortment of sociologists, geographers, economists, and educators. All the papers are concerned with some phase of the Nigerian civil war as the authors attempt to analyse and isolate the many social variables that contributed to
this bloody and deplorable conflict.
