Online resources: Summary: Agricultural production in the USSR in 1965 fell sharply from the exceptionally high level attained in 1964. In the East European countries as a group, output remained unchanged. This was the result, however, of good performance in Poland and Rumania, offsetting sharp declines in Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. Production in Hungary, East Germany and Bulgaria changed little between 1964 and 1965 (table 1). Compared with output in 1957-59, USSR agricultural production was up 9 percent but per capita output was below the 1957-59 level. Output in Eastern Europe remained at 13 percent above the 1957-59 level, with Poland and Rumania more than 20 percent above that level and East Germany and Hungary showing less progress, Czechoslovakia even fell below the 1957-59 average.
