Summary: In this study the author has made a pioneering attempt to undertake a systematic exploration into the Indian farmers' expectations of future prices. This he has done by carrying out a case study of selected farmers from three villages of Meerut district in Western Uttar Pradesh. The task of sorting out the variables involved in price expectations, and tracing the process of expectation formation, including especially the aggregation of the effects of several variables so as to formalize the expectation models underlying the behavior of the different groups of farmers has been creditably carried out.
