Summary: This is volume provides comparative examination of economic development of Burma (now Myanmar) and Pakistan. The book considers the types of economic philosophy and policy that are being applied in Burma and in Pakistan. The countries were chosen because of their contrasting economic system, one based on modern capitalism and the other on Sino-Soviet socialism in the process of modernization. Provides general views on the state of the economics of development; successively socio-economic change and economic growth; socio-political and cultural changes, dealing further with the degree of openness of social system. Economic development and transformation of China, India and Japan are reviewed briefly in a comparative way, and examples of closed social systems are discussed.
