The author introduces two innovations which it is believed will be valuable to students. Firstly, there is a chapter on determinants and matrices which should serve as an introduction to these methods of mathematical presentation. Secondly, there is a short chapter on vectors. The methods of vector algebra, although by no means new, are in process of becoming accepted in an accelerated degree as essential parts of the equipment of the physicist and the engineer.
