Summary: This book presents a record of the papers delivered, translated into English, and also a lengthy working paper describing the enquiry into the savings of Belgian households and enterprises being undertaken by the economic research department of the CGER. Some thirteen papers were presented. Some were little more than lectures rehearsing well-known economic generalities about the savings process, which were delivered at the Congress. Others reported on the research labours of months. Again some of the papers were based on empirical, quantitative work, while others were highly abstract and theoretical in content.
