N2  - The OSHA safety regulations had been widely criticized as confusing, complex, difficult to understand, and unrelated to safety. OSHA began a systematic review of the safety regulations in April 1976. Shortly thereafter, a task force was established to aid OSHA in this revision process. 
Thus, the results of this work as established in this report of the task force, include a new set of regulations for safety equipment on machines that promises both lower costs of regulation and more safety in machine operations
