N2  - Voluntary International Industry guidelines are crucial in an increasingly deregulated global world. These industry environmental ''mission statements'' are frequently incorporated in the environmental guidelines of member firms, or simply adopted in their entirety. They are therefore, key indicators of industry and corporate practice. This new area of corporate policy-making; self-regulation of environmental management are the focus of the present study.
