A comparative study of these systems requires rather extensive readings, and how intimately they actually are related is not always clear from the specialized, technically more of less advanced works in which detailed analyses of the systems and their properties have been undertaken. The original authors of the systems have often, for obvious reasons, been inclined to exaggerate differences rather than emphasize similarities; perhaps they may not always have been aware of the similarities. The emphasis of this book is therefore upon the general structures and specifications of the systems, their economic interpretation, and their common origin and kinship, rather than upon detailed analysis of the properties of the individual systems.
