N2  - This paper has examined risk-return relationships within the non-life insurance industry during 1955-1967 in light of the earnings performances of 82 randomly selected nonlife insurers.The study results suggest that returns on capital and surplus were inadequate during the one rejects this methodology on theoretical grounds this results still appears to be confirmed at the five percent rate of return level when correlating mean temporal returns and corresponding standard deviations.
