Summary: The role of trade and tariff policies of importing countries in India's export trade has not so far been widely appreciated. An important aspect of export promotion is to study and overcome the obstacles in importing countries to the expansion of India's overseas sales. In this respect, the experience of the Kennedy Round has helped the administration and the trade to appreciate the contribution which modifications of commercial policies of importing countries could make to the realization of export objectives
