The purpose of this paper is to identify and assess the long-term factors acting in the decisive sphere of intra-CMEA cooperation, the energy policy sphere, as this is the only possible approach to short and medium-term economic cooperation from which to derive guidelines for a Hungarian attitude to an ongoing intra-CMEA energy policy.
