The pace of banking development in Pakistan has perhaps very few parallels in the world. Starting from virtual scratch in 1947, the country today possesses a full range of banking and financial institutions to cope with the multifarious needs of a growing economy. This book covers the entire field of banking and monetary management. The first nine chapters survey the monetary institutional framework and shed light on various facets of banking development in the country. The component units of money and capital markets are also examined. the remaining ten chapters offer a critical analysis of monetary management in Pakistan and also of a wide range of related policy issues.
