The author's primary aim is to help individuals to widen their knowledge of money and investment so as to make better use of their financial resources. He stress the importance of getting professional counsel on the areas of personal finance that you don't fully understand. Chapter 1 deals with 'Your Financial Position, Now and Later, Chapters 2 to 7 inclusive are concerned with various aspects of family protection and Chapters 8 to 10 with different types of investment, special problems of certain groups, single people, the self-employed, surtax payers and the elderly. Chapter 15 amplifies earlier references to pensions, both State and occupational. Chapter 16 gives some ideas about getting professional advice and provides a check list for use in determining which aspects of family finance still seem obscure.
