Summary: The importance of leads and lags in international payments has long been acknowledged, but there has been no detailed examination of the mechanisms through which they work. This book is an attempt to filling this gap in economic knowledge by outlining the techniques and methods by which leads and lags operate. It also lists the four practices of leads and lags has: (1) changes in the timing of payments or of the collection of foreign-currency proceeds and the timing of the disposal of the proceeds; (2) changes in the country or currency of financing; (3) changes in the currency in which trade is invoiced; and (4) changes in the purchase or sale of spot or forward currencies.
