Summary: Sinha and Sawhney in their study present an excellent analysis of wages and productivity relationships in five major industries in India, viz., cotton textiles, cement, sugar, jute, and paper and paper board for the period 1950 1963. The data used for the study are mainly derived from the Census of Indian Manufactures (CMI) and from the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI). The CMI data have been used for the period 1950-1958 and ASI data for the period 1959-1963.
