This book examines the conduct of exchange rate to ensure its stability over the long run through flexible monetary policies without direct intervention in the foreign exchange markets. It also investigates the effects of capital movement on exchange rates, the volume of credit, the nation income, and the terms of trade. It was developed out of a doctoral thesis submitted at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958.
