Summary: This book is a collection of papers presented at a seminar held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, December 5-7, 1988, and sponsored by the Arab Monetary Fund, the International Monetary Fund, the United Nations Development Program, and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia. The purpose of the seminar was to debate an increasingly important issue, the economics of privatization. In addition to the editor's paper in which he highlights the basic issues of privatization, the book contains eight papers, each followed by a comment of a discussant or two discussants. Most of the papers are light and straight forward reading, especially for readers with economics backgrounds.
