This book focuses on the imperative of rural development. It maintains that the stagnation of the rural economy (while the urban centres develop) is a major cause of the economic problems like inflation, poverty, suffering alongside an ever increasing population. As the population rises, food demand rises. On the other hand, food production is not rising as the rural areas which are the main centres for food production have remained neglected.
