This book describes the relationship between foreign economic assistance and development programs in India, Turkey, and the U.A.R. The size, character, and purpose of Soviet and American aid are compared with reference to each country. The thesis is argued, with extensive statistical data, that such aid is vital to the recipient country and, therefore, constitutes an important part of both American and Soviet foreign policy.
