Summary: The 1988 Report of the Chairman of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) marks a significant advance in donors' collective thinking about the problems of aid to developing countries. In his introductory chapters, the Chairman describes where we are now and the main issues ahead. In the remaining chapters, the secretariat reviews current trends in aid and other resource flows, and in aid policies, with an up-to-date account of current donor policies on aid for structural adjustment and aid co-ordination. Finally, the report presents the results of significant new DAC work on principles for the selection and design of development projects.
