The publication aims at providing some empirical evidence concerning changes in comparative advantage over time, in different countries and across a wide range of selected industries. This study is the first in a series of occasional statistical publications the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) intends to produce. The information used in the statistical tables here presented was all derived from the UNIDO data base. In turn, those data were compiled from an set of data supplied by the United Nations Statistical Office, supplemented by additional information the UNIDO secretariat obtained from other organizations.
