As the title implies, Leijonhufvud makes a distinction between Keynes and "the Keynesians." His purpose is twofold. First, to rescue Keynes from the odious clutches of the vulgar Keynesians whose interpretations of their master's voice are gross perversions. Second, having identified the real John Maynard Keynes, to confront his theory with neoclassical theory and, in particular, to reestablish the generality of Keynes. Leijonhufvud has done a splendid job of explaining the logic of Keynes' model and has brought into focus its choice-theoretic framework so that it will now be much more difficult to charge Keynes with ad hoc analysis based on sundry rigidities and illusions.
