This book attempts to deal with several facets of H. A. Innis and his work. It opens with a brief introduction to its subject. There follows a very short biography of Innis and an account of the Chicago milieu where he took his graduate training. The "doctrinal content" of Innis work is dealt with in the
next six short chapters covering Canadian history, the theory of economic growth, the "problem of values in the Canadian case," and the role of values in economic growth, in the nature and history of social science, and in civilization. The final two chapters attempt to place Innis in the history of economics
and in Canadian economics.
