This book explains how the American Agricultural Economics Association decided some years ago that there was a need for a major review of the agricultural economics literature published over the last thirty years. The first volume dealing with traditional fields of agricultural economics has now appeared; a further two are promised. The aim of this major undertaking is to furnish teachers and researchers in agricultural economics and related subjects with a comprehensive survey of the literature. To this end the volume is in seven parts, each part having an acknowledged expert responsible for its contents. The parts are :
I Farm Management and Production Economics, 1946-70 (Harald R. Jensen, pp. 86 including 285 references);
II The Analysis of Productive Efficiency in Agricultural Marketing: Models, Methods, and Progress (Ben C. French, pp. 103, 763 references);
III Policy for Commercial Agriculture, 1945^71 (G. E. Brandow, pp. 83, 242 references);
IV Postwar Policies Relating to Trade in Agri- cultural Products (D. Gale Johnson, pp. 30, 175 references); and
V Agricultural Price Analysis and Outlook (William G. Tomek and Kennet.
