This volume examines American monetary policies from early 1928 to the time of America's entry into World War ll in December 1941. This longer period breaks naturally into three parts, each including a major episode in American monetary history. Part 1 covers the period extending from the reversal of the easy-money policies of 1927 to the stock-market collapse in October 1929. Part ll covers the period of the Great Slide-the tragic decline of national income, employment, and price levels to the nadir of the depression. While part lll covers the period of the New Deal from March 1933 to the end of 1941.
