This third volume of the Surveys of African Economies is devoted to seven countries in Western Africa, namely, Dahomey, Ivory Coast, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Togo, and Upper Volta. The materials contained in this volume are based mainly on published sources, supplemented by data gathered by Fund missions from the central Bank and national authorities, who have authorized their publication. The book deals with regional economic cooperation, development planning, money and banking, balance of payments and exchange controls as well as recent economic developments in each of these countries.
