The thesis contains six essays. The thesis deal with various aspects of monetary policy rules and institutional arrangements for monetary policy, they are grouped into two main parts reflecting the different essays' aim and methodology. The first part applies the theoretical framework of the time-inconsistency literature. The second part deals with open-economy issues of monetary policy rules, in particular the role of the exchange rate in macroeconomic stabilization.
