Summary: The author stresses on development plans being made to reduce import dependence of Less Developed Countries (LDCs) on developed countries. Because of the dim and uncertain prospects for further substantial reductions in import dependence and for further large-scale increases in foreign exchange receipts through aid investment, the LDCs in recent years have been giving greater emphasis to the need for developed countries to adopt policies that would enable the LDCs to increase and stabilize their export earnings from developed countries.
