This book examines the issues of the reserves that is available for central banks for making payments as required to other countries. It also asserts that existing international reserves are insufficient to support the growing trade and financial transactions, and consequently a rather substantial increase in liquidity is needed at once. Global reserves-gold stocks plus foreign exchange plus the "gold tranche" positions at the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
