This book has attempted to estimate the contributions made by various sources to the growth of Indian economy during the period 1948-49 to 1968-69. The methodology has been entirely based on the work of Denison on sources of economic growth in the United States. The book has estimated the contribution of factor inputs to the growth rate of national income. It has also estimated the contribution of increase in productivity. In order to estimate the sources of growth of national income, the book estimate time series of national income on a uniform basis and its functional distribution, and further, time series of the three broad factor inputs: labour, capital, and land.
