This volume examines the definition of choices for resource allocation, the tough and controversial problem of national priorities in the United States published in 1974. The author selects 14 categories of goals and priced them out, taking dollars as the measure of the claims on the economy's resources expected to arise from pursuing these goals. These includes: national defence, research and development, foreign aid, education, health, manpower development, and social welfare among others.
