The book attempts to give a detailed picture of the planning for economic development in Burma during the 1950's. The book is divided into six parts. Part I presents a short description of Burmese geography, history, and economic development prior to 1950.Part II describes the activities culminating in the use of American T.C.A. aid to make it possible to obtain outside economic consultant assistance in drawing up and implementing economic plans in Burma. Parts III, IV, and V are concerned with the domestic problems faced by the government of Burma and the problems incurred by the government in implementing various government programs oriented toward economic development
