| Summary, etc. | This book gives a description and analysis of international finance in accordance with the present system of exchange-rate floating, the author redefines convertibility so that it continues to incorporate all current transactions plus trade credit, but excludes reference to any official obligation to maintain exchange-rate parities. Also, the important role of commercial banks in foreign- exchange trading-often de-emphasized in the literature- is given central importance, with emphasis placed both on traditional foreign-exchange banking (deposits and loans denominated exclusively in the currency of the country in which the bank is resident) and on Eurocurrency banking. |
