Summary, etc. The research, reported in this work, was initiated to close some of the gaps in labor market literature. The selected gaps could be listed as: determinants of intra-occupational wage differentials, impacts of information systems, and effects of spatial characteristics of a large labor market. The concepts of compensating differentials and efficiency earnings provide<br/>the major theoretical backdrop for this inquiry. In addition, non-competitive elements (such as the presence of a union, the sex of workers, and the color of workers) are examined for theoretical implications. This substantive design clearly earmarks the literary value of the study. Any student of wage theory or labor markets will find it an important research volume. Any student of markets will benefit from scanning or reading several key chapters. A labor economics library would be incomplete without it.
