| Summary, etc. | This book examined industrialisation in underdeveloped countries. The author explains that there must be simultaneous emphases on both industry and agriculture and analyses the advantages, conditions, and problems of industrialization. The book argues that that industrialization, while not a panacea, has better opportunities for increasing returns than agriculture. Especially in underdeveloped countries, agriculture is comparatively disadvantaged by its vulnerability to weather, pests, and price fluctuations, its slower rate of production, and the traditional conservatism of the peasantry. |
