| Summary, etc. | Brandis' Principles of Economics is intended as a basic textbook for a comprehensive one-year introductory course. Although it is built on material from an earlier one-semester principles text, the revision is so thoroughgoing and so much new material has been added that the book is brought out as a new book, not a revision of the older book. Some of the features of the book include a discussion of the development of the American economy, an analysis of regional economics including location of industry, a thorough discussion of manpower and population problems, a more rigorous theory of growth, and an excellent integration of monetary and national income theory. The socioeconomic problems of urbanization and migration of population are well covered. Another interesting feature is the coverage of both the micro and macro problems and implications not only of unemployment but also of taxation and government expenditures as well. |
