In this book, Chapter 1 appraises the conventional definitions and meanings attached to a developing economy, and argues for a re-orientation of definitions to reflect the universality of problems involved. Chapter 2 discusses briefly strategic concepts such as social overhead capital, institutional infrastructure and human capital, concerning the importance of which all shades of economists agree. Chapter 3 attempts to analyze fixed capital formation and relation to the growth rates of gross domestic product. Chapter 4 argues that if the macro-economic variable, money, is over-manipulated, the formation of capital may be affected. The empirical analysis of the role of money leads to Chapter 5, while the results of investigations are summarized in Chapter 6.
