This is perhaps one of the most important books to appear in a long time on the subject of wage inflation and the interaction between the labor market and macroeconomic variables. On the surface, it is an account of the application of the "Aukrust" model of price increase generation to the Swedish economy for the years 1952 to 1968, with some additional observations for the years to 1971. In addition, however, this account is a comprehensive critique of current economic orthodoxy on the definitions and causes of inflation in modern industrial societies.
