This volume contains the papers and proceedings of an Anglo-American conference on the " new " economic history of Britain which was held at Harvard in September 1970. Twelve of the papers printed examine a variety of topics, ranging from Stanley Engerman on the Anglo-American iron trade in the 1840s and 1850s to D. E. Moggridge on British controls on
long-term capital movements in the late 1920s, while the remaining four are concerned with the prospects for the so-called " new " economic history in Britain.
