This is a report of a series of special studies on monetary policy undertaken by the Secretariat of the OECD at the request of the Economic Policy Committee. The purpose of these studies is to provide a better framework for the analysis of national monetary policies, and for international consultation regarding the use of monetary policy in member countries for domestic demand management and balance of payments adjustment.
