Chapter 1 of this book defines the national income and relates it to other totals of income and product. Chapter 2 describes the three basic forms of economic activity, production, consumption and accumulation. Chapter 3 introduces the concept of sectors, private and public, and traces the course of the national income from its origin in the various sectors through a succession of transfers to its final use by the various sectors. Chapter 4 take up the question of comparing totals of income and product over time. Chapter 5 discusses the problems of comparing income and product levels in different regions. Final chapter gives an outline of the more advanced forms of economic description.
