The accounting problems of the petroleum industry have withstood a satisfactory solution for many decade. The uncertainties associated with exploration for oil deposits make it difficult to account adequately for the heavy outlays necessary o find the oil. Add to these, technical problems the social and political issues created by the international operation of many large oil companies. The present study injects a fresh point of view into the problem.
